Jon Schermer --
trombone
Jon first heard traditional jazz when
he was in grade school, and his uncle took him
to The Annual Ragtime & Traditional Jazz
Festival in St. Louis, Missouri. There, he saw
groups like The Salty Dogs and Turk Murphy’s
band. Several years later, he went back to the
festival and heard the Royal Society Jazz
Orchestra. In the early 80’s, Jon moved to the
Bay Area, joined Royal Society, and had the
opportunity to play at the Saint Louis Ragtime
Festival. Since his arrival in the Bay Area, Jon
has played with many big bands, theater groups,
combos, and even an occasional classical group.

has performed with operas, ballets, and symphonies

Paul Price --
piano
A Bay Area native and lifelong devotee
of vintage music, Paul began playing traditional
jazz during high school, as a founding member of the
Churchill Street Jazz Band, and later Professor
Plum's Jazz, and this band. An avid student of
popular music history, he has also played with
several orchestras preserving and reviving early
popular music, including his own "society
orchestra", working alongside dance historians, and
using original vintage orchestrations. Guided
by his extensive library of vintage recordings, Paul
looks for original source material and seeks to
follow in its footsteps. Visit his website!

Mike Hart --
tuba
Mike,
also a native San Franciscan, studied piano and sang
in his Church choir as a young boy. After being
introduced to early rock and roll by Little Richard
and Jerry Lee Lewis, and later to blues by local SF
bands, he found himself enjoying early American
roots music. Mike started tuba in high school and
later joined a ragtime band. This led to playing
with ragtime and traditional jazz bands in the Bay
Area. Following his work career with the City of San
Francisco, he joined Bay Area bands, Fog City
Stompers, Silicon Gulch Jazz Band, and Silicon
Stompers. He also plays in community bands and
orchestras in San Francisco and Half Moon Bay, as
well as an Oktoberfest band. He enjoys making music
with his bandmates and is continuing to try to
attend to his sacred duty as a bass player.
